Truer words have never been spoken. When living your truth, you feel real joy, not the faux joy you try to force yourself to feel when living a false life based on shoulds, or trying to fit yourself into a box of conformity when it's freedom of uniqueness and expression you seek.
And when that joy is absent, it is a clear sign that you are out of alignment. Things feel hard, there is no humor or fun any more. Energy drags and moods are fragile.
I have first hand experience of this. In fact, I could say that right now is a clear transition point for me in my life. I know what brings me joy. And I know what brings me down.
At one point those two things were very different, but now there are areas in my life where the two seem to be walking next to each other. Joy for me is in doing work that matters. Where I feel I am making a positive difference in other people's lives. And the way in which I do it feels good to me. I'm not walking someone else's walk, or talking someone else's talk. I'm doing what I love, on my terms, because it brings me joy, not to receive someone else's approval or acceptance.
I feel out of alignment when I do things because I feel they're what I should do to be able to get to the joy part. Creating positive change in people, companies, systems are things that bring me joy. Feeling I have to do these things based on someone else's idea of what will or won't work brings me down.
Using concepts of metaphysics, energy and healing outside of their traditional fields brings me joy, as does helping people new to these concepts understand the powerful role they can play in their lives. Feeling I have to defend myself or these concepts to people who steadfastly refuse to expand their horizons beyond their five senses definitely brings me down. And staying true to my values of being patient and kind to those who do not show the same respect towards me or my ideals can bring me crashing down to the point where I question my purpose and resolve.
In times where I feel out of alignment, it helps me to remember that I am ultimately the one in charge of my life. Not in a beat-myself-up-I-suck kind of way, but in an empowering way of reminding myself that if something isn't working, it is completely within my power to change it.
The two most important aspects to being in charge your life are intention and belief. If you've read previous posts from me, you'll see these are two hot topics on my radar these days because they are, in fact, two of the most important concepts to master for creating joy and alignment by fully connecting to your truth.
Intention by making conscious choices that you know will make you happy (and getting rid of what doesn't), and holding tightly to the belief that it is, in fact, possible for you to live consistent with your truth. Believing in yourself and that to live fully aligned with your truth is something that you deserve, are worthy of, and are good enough for. The same goes for the joy part.
Most of us have been conditioned to diminish or full-out reject joy when it comes into our lives, because it is not to be trusted. It isn't sustainable. It can be deceiving. This is old-world outdated thinking for generations that had much harder lives than most of us have today. We have been conditioned to think in terms of hardship and lack, when the world of today wants to us to flourish and prosper.
But the only way this can happen is with our own thinking. Our own willingness to toss aside these old beliefs that no longer serve us in favor of accepting a new and much brighter world of love and joy. Are you ready for joy? Then get intentional about your reality and believe in your truth!
Questions: Where in your life do you feel fully connected to your truth? Where do you feel disconnected or frustrated in your life? What is necessary to turn those frustrations to joy, or to connect what currently feels disconnected to your truth? What hard truths do you have to face in order to create the life you truly want? What is required to be able to face them?
